Things to do in Eastsound, WA (Orcas Island)
If you are visiting the San Juan Islands, Eastsound is an ideal place to make the base for your exploration of Orcas and the rest of the San Juans. It maintains a small farm-town feel while offering the visitor a variety of gift shops and restaurants, and the Orcas Island Farmers Market.
To the east, Moran State Park is full of recreational opportunities with its 30 miles of hiking trails and five freshwater lakes. The park is home to Mt. Constitution, the best place to take in the scenery of the San Juans from its 2,409 foot vantage point. If that isn't high enough, charter a biplane for scenic flights of the entire San Juan island landscape.
Visitors also have the opportunity to explore the island by bike or horseback through Turtlehead Trails or Orcas Island Trail Rides. Eastsound also has a public beach with stunning views of the East Sound. Plenty of boat charters are available when you want to explore offshore. You can even take sailing lessons or tour the tidepools by kayak in the protected waters of East Sound.
