Things to do on Lummi Island
This island has been protected from crowds and tourist attractions, leaving the visitor to form their own relationship with the natural landscape. The rural topography invites bikers to explore quiet country roads. Vast stretches of beaches allow for solitary beach combing. Spread a picnic on the sand or take a day trip to a nearby island. Explore by boat to access some of the more isolated beaches. Whales can often be spotted from land, or boats can be chartered.
The island is home to many artists whose work can be viewed in galleries such as Sister's Gallery and the Good Thunder Pottery studio. Visit in the summer to catch the festivities of the Reefnet festival, as the only reefnet salmon fishery in the world makes Lummi its home. A Saturday Farmer's Market offers fresh seafood and produce from local organic farms that cover the island. Those who wish to explore the agriculture of the islands can participate in farm tours in the summer.
